Gede Ruins (half-day)

Safari Itinerary

Have you ever heard of the Gede Ruins in Kenya? It’s a fascinating archaeological site dating back to the 13th century.

The ruins were discovered in the early 20th century and have since been designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

The ruins offer a glimpse into the unique Swahili culture that once inhabited the area, and it’s incredible to see how well-preserved some of the structures still are.

Walking among the ruins is like stepping back in time, with numerous ancient buildings and mosques waiting to be explored.

One of the most interesting features is probably the Great Mosque, built entirely of coral stone and featuring intricate carvings and decorations.

Visitors can also explore ancient tombs, gardens, and even a small on-site museum.

What’s more, at the entrance we’ll be greeted by lots of friendly little monkeys that are used to people and interacting with them—and they absolutely love the bananas that tourists bring! It’s almost impossible to keep them from snatching them right out of your hands.
